The details of the debate between two candidates for mayor of Athens, incumbent Kostas Bakoyiannis and Haris Doukas, will take place at 21:15 on Wednesday and will be broadcast by ERTNews and ERT1.
The debate will last 1.5 hours and will be facilitated by journalist Giorgos Kouvaras. Questions will be asked by ERT journalists Lida Bola and Makis Provatas under seven categories (city operation, security, climate change/resilience, infrastructure/development, social policy, culture, and a free theme).
Candidates will be able to ask up to three questions of their opponent, while they will be allowed up to five interventions of 1.5 minutes each whenever they wish to comment.
At the end of the debate, each candidate will be able to round up their stance with comments up to 2 minutes long.
Bakoyiannis and Doukas will run in the second round of local elections on October 15, as neither achieved the threshold percentage of 43%. At the October 8 elections, Bakoyiannis (endorsed by ruling New Democracy) led Doukas (PASOK, without official party endorsement) with 41.35% over 14.19%.
