Mitsotakis participates in Three Seas Summit in Lithuania

English

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is tavelling to Vilnius, Lithuania, for the Summit of the Three Seas Initiative, in which heads of state and government of 13 European countries are participating.

The aim is to strengthen cooperation in the Central and Eastern European region with an emphasis on the North-South axis, through economic and infrastructure interconnection in the fields of energy, transport and digital communication.

The prime minister is expected to stress the role and initiatives that Greece has undertaken through infrastructure upgrade projects, and initiatives with neighboring countries that highlight it as an energy, transport and logistics hub in Southeast Europe.

In the evening, Mitsotakis will depart for Warsaw, where he will participate in the working dinner of European leaders organized by the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, for consultations on the EU's Strategic Agenda (ahead of the European Council in June).

It is recalled that the prime minister participated in the first round of leaders' dinners in Berlin last November.

On Friday, Mitsotakis will have a meeting with his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk. It is the first visit of a Greek prime minister to Poland since 2011.

During the meeting, all issues of European interest are expected to be discussed, in view of the special European Council next week (April 17-18), as well as issues of regional and international interest, with a focus on the latest developments in Ukraine and the Middle East.
According to government sources, the two leaders - the two most powerful leaders of the EPP at the moment - are expected in their private meeting to discuss issues concerning the strategy of the European People's Party in the run-up to the European elections, as well as the next day for Europe.
